Eppie Adams from CEWebsites spoke at today's ESBN General Meeting. She and her husband started their web development business 18 years ago. One of their services is helping business define & refine their online presence through Discovery Sessions and ensuring that their client's website's have a responsive design so they can be viewed on any device.
The following is a copy of her handout:
WHY RESPONSIVE WEB DESIGN?
Consider these statistics: * More than 50 percentof search queries globally now come from mobile devices * Mobile devices are projected to reach 79%of global internet use by the end of 2018 * Mobile eCommerce revenue accounts for 50%of total U.S. eCommerce revenue (2017) * 57% of users won’t recommend a business with a poorly designed mobile website * Nearly 8 in 10 customers would leave a website that doesn’t display well on their device * Smartphone conversion rates are up 64% compared to desktop conversion rates * 88% of consumers who search for a type of business on a mobile device call or go to that business within 24 hours What do these statistics tell us? People are more and more using their mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, iPads, etc.) to browse and shop the internet. Mobile users want a functional experience. They don’t want to pinch, squeeze, or expand to read text, click on links, or fill in forms. And if the customer is dissatisfied with their mobile user experience they will disengage from the website and will often not recommend the website to others. What is the difference between “mobile ready” and “responsive” website designs? Just like Facebook replaced MySpace, responsive web design replaces “mobile ready” websites. A “mobile ready” website is essentially a website that looks and functions the same whether viewed on a smart phone or a desktop. Unfortunately, the user experience is not the same, since tiny text, horizontal scrolling and navigation issues impede the mobile user experience. Responsive web design, on the other hand, is geared toward mobile website functionality. A responsive website keeps the aesthetic of the desktop web design “similar” (not “the same as”) across all devices, while making the user experience easy and intuitive. What is the solution? Bring your business website to the next level with responsive design. At CEWebsites, our motto is “Your Online Success Is Our Success”. We want your business to succeed online whether it’s providing information and/or selling products on your website. We don’t want you to lose potential business because a mobile user has a frustrating experience because they had to pinch, squeeze, expand or horizontally scroll. In today’s online climate, we believe that “online success” involves a responsive designed website. Let us help your business succeed online with responsive design.
